Write with the masters.
Slowly. By hand.
I’m Melanie, and this site grew out of the way I’ve learned to pay attention to writing.
For years, I’ve copied out passages from books I love — sentences that stopped me, descriptions that lingered, openings that worked. Writing them out by hand taught me things I couldn’t see by reading alone. That practice is called copywork, and it’s what all of my work here is built around.
What I do here
I curate copywork so you don’t have to start from a blank page.
I choose passages from classic literature that are worth lingering over and group them by theme — openings, settings, character, rhythm. Where it’s helpful, I add brief notes and prompts to help you respond in your own voice.
I’m not here to teach rules.
I’m here to put strong sentences in front of you — so you can learn directly from good writing, one page at a time.
